Therianos Family Estate - Our Farm
The Therianos Family and Our Farm
The Therianos family has been cultivating the land of Zakynthos for many generations, preserving the traditions, knowledge, and values that have been passed down from one generation to the next. With respect for nature and a deep love for our homeland, we produce authentic local products, including extra virgin olive oil, Black Corinthian raisins, and quality wines from traditional grape varieties.
Our farm extends across approximately 5 hectares. Two hectares are located in the fertile lowland area of Kallithea, where we cultivate the traditional Black Corinthian Raisin. The oldest raisin vineyards of our family are approximately 100 years old, while the younger ones are over 80 years old, representing a living continuation of Zakynthos' agricultural heritage.
In the same area, we cultivate our traditional family vineyards, which are approximately 100 years old. From these vineyards, we produce our wines, continuing a long-standing winemaking tradition deeply connected to the history and culture of Zakynthos.
The remaining 3 hectares are located in the semi-mountainous area of our village, at the foothills of Mount Vrachionas, where the historic and ancient olive groves of the Therianos family are found. Here, Koroneiki olive trees aged between 500 and 1,000 years grow alongside rare native Zakynthian olive trees, which are estimated to be up to 2,500 years old and are considered among the oldest productive olive trees on the island. These remarkable trees continue to bear fruit of exceptional quality and serve as a living link to the history, culture, and agricultural heritage of Zakynthos.
Throughout the rest of the farm, visitors will discover a rich variety of fruit trees and plants, including olive trees, orange trees, lemon trees, walnut trees, apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, apricot trees, loquat trees, fig trees, quince trees, cherry trees, and peach trees, creating a natural environment filled with colours, aromas, and the authentic beauty of the Zakynthian countryside.
Visitors have the opportunity to explore the farm and experience the authentic agricultural life of Zakynthos firsthand. Through our guided tours, we share the story of our family, traditional farming practices, and the knowledge we have gained through generations of working the land.
Guests can also taste our authentic products, carefully produced with respect for nature, learn about local traditions, and purchase products that have been part of our family's daily life for generations.
For those seeking a more complete experience, our estate offers accommodation in an authentic Zakynthian rural setting. With love, dedication, and attention to detail, the Therianos family has created four traditional houses inspired by Zakynthian architecture and the timeless values of Greek hospitality.
Here, visitors do not simply feel like guests; they become part of our extended family. They wake up surrounded by nature, stroll among ancient olive trees, vineyards, and gardens, discover local products, meet the farm animals, and experience the authentic rhythm of life in the Greek countryside.
At Therianos Family Estate, we believe that hospitality is much more than simply offering accommodation or a visit. It is an opportunity to share our family's history, traditions, flavours, and way of life with people from around the world, creating meaningful experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
We warmly invite you to discover the history, flavours, traditions, and hospitality of the Therianos family and create unforgettable memories in Zakynthos.
What Our Farm Produces

Ancient Olive Trees of Zakynthos
One of the most remarkable treasures of the Therianos family heritage is its ancient olive groves. In the semi-mountainous area of Kallithea, at the foothills of Mount Vrachionas, our family cultivates native Zakynthian olive trees estimated to be up to 2,500 years old, alongside Koroneiki olive trees ranging from 500 to 1,000 years old.
These extraordinary trees have witnessed centuries of Zakynthian history and continue to produce olives of exceptional quality. Their enduring presence stands as a living testament to the island's rich agricultural tradition and the deep connection between the Therianos family and the land they have cultivated for generations.
The ancient olive groves form an important part of our family's agricultural heritage and inspire our commitment to preserving traditional farming practices, respect for nature, and the authentic character of Zakynthos.

Zakynthian Black Raisins – The Famous Zante Currants
For centuries, Zakynthos has been associated with one of Greece's most treasured traditional foods: the Black Corinth Raisin, internationally known as the Zante Currant. Naturally sun-dried and rich in polyphenols, antioxidants, and dietary fiber, these small dark raisins combine exceptional nutritional value with a rich cultural heritage. Produced using traditional methods and without additives, they remain one of the most authentic products of the Zakynthian countryside and the Mediterranean diet
Black Corinthian Raisins
The Black Corinthian Raisin is one of the most historic and valuable agricultural products of Zakynthos and Greece. For generations, the Therianos family has cultivated this traditional crop, preserving cultivation methods that have been passed down through the years.
Each August, usually between the 14th and 20th of the month, the grapes are carefully harvested by hand when they have reached their optimal ripeness. At this stage, the grapes have a beautiful deep red colour.
After harvesting, the grapes are traditionally spread on specially prepared drying nets under the warm Zakynthian sun. Over the course of approximately 10 to 15 days, depending on weather conditions, the grapes gradually lose their moisture and naturally transform into the small, dark raisins that are renowned worldwide for their rich flavour, natural sweetness, and nutritional value.
This traditional sun-drying process has been practiced in Zakynthos for generations and remains one of the most authentic expressions of the island's agricultural heritage. Visitors to our farm can learn about the cultivation, harvesting, and drying process of Black Corinthian Raisins and discover why this unique product has been treasured throughout history.
